echoes..

It has been many months since i have posted anything here and for good reason.. there has been nothing to post. Between the constant flow of work and my own personal delusions, i have little if any time for myself much less my _hobbies_. My spirit is at it’s lowest ebb and i do not know if i will be back anytime soon or with anything new. Time is a blessing i do not have at the moment. Until then.

personal opengl boilerplate..

Developing opengl applications can be very tedious.. writing any code at all really, if you know you are going to be doing something regularly, it is a good idea to write some solid reusable boilerplate. I wrote pobp with this in mind and added alot of functionality that can be reused and is not platform specific(opensource ftw). The code is optimized and 100% memory efficient. and comes with a neat image loader and obj parser. It’s a nice step for me in terms of finally starting to write serious code and a great test run of saab. Examples coming soon. Currently in its early state i have 3000+ lines of code to less than 400 lines! and the best thing is it is all readable and clean.

In nearly every serious programmer’s lifetime, they will strive to achieve three things:

1. write their own language(programming obviously).

2. write their own operating system.

3. build their own computer or e-device from scratch. the different parts.

including serious game developers:

4. write their own game engine.

5. write a popular, well received game.

6. write their own physics engine.

and the list goes on for different areas.. physics people, artists(render engines) etc.

These are all my opinions and by no means official.

I have only accomplished one of these fully, poorly started another and only half into another one. Whenever entering any field its nice to have a final or midway goal i think and these are excellent challenges for serious programmers who love what they do. Love what you do, be diligent, keen and be ambitious.

saab.

saab?

It’s the new creative process i have been actively trying. saab is the abbreviation for Stop and Absorb. In a developer and or artist’s creative lifestyle they might.. like me foolishly tackle learning multiple techniques, APIs, concepts etc and it is really frustrating to say.

You can’t keep track of anything, easily confused and don’t get much done. Introducing saab. ..just like it says.. stop and absorb, its rather confusing learning flash, javascript, a bunch of jquery libs on the side while still learning 3d concepts and techniques with some math and physics tossed in.. its a head buster and people do it! They don’t get much done but people do it.. stopping and taking the time to digest one thing at a time is highly effective and much much more productive.

Using saab i have successfully descrambled the jargon that is php, the witchcraft that is java and picked up something new at the same time.. music production.. making whatever.. It’s all in time management and scheduling, a week of web dev, a few days of 3d.. a week of graphics programming, traditional drawing etc.. in the long run information is retained, it all pays off and one’s time is used more efficiently.

yep. still alive and kicking. more awesome? hell yeah, i don’t want to post anything else here since im looking about purchasing a domain name and acquiring some hosting! \o/. so i have tons of new images, updates and some code to post plus a few other thing im sure the one person who reads my blog might like. see you soon.

Did alot in 2011, most of which im not so proud of, i however spent quite some time on these images and i think they deserve to be shown, i can do better but time and diligence will be the true judge of that.
